Belize Peini Plantation 70%

Produced by the Dutch maker Krak Chocolade, this 70% dark chocolate bar originates from the Peini Plantation located in the Toledo District of Punta Gorda, Belize. The bar consists of 80 grams of chocolate made from a blend of Trinitario and Criollo bean varieties harvested in 2019. It contains only cocoa beans, cane sugar, and cocoa butter, intentionally excluding lecithin, vanillin, and vegetable fats.

The cacao beans undergo a 7-day fermentation period in Santa Maria wood boxes before being dried on wooden tables. Krak refines the chocolate using a melanger. The resulting bar presents a flavor profile defined by fresh citrus acidity, tropical soft fruit, nuttiness, and herbal undertones. Per 100 grams, the product contains 30 grams of sugar and 41 grams of fat.

The chocolate is certified organic. It has received recognition including a Gold award from the Academy of Chocolate in 2022 and a Silver award at the 2021-22 International Chocolate Awards for European Bean-to-Bar.
