Content Policy

Chof is a scanning and reviewing app for chocolate bars. This Content Policy explains what you may upload or post (“Content”), what is not allowed, and how we handle violations.
This policy applies to all Content submitted through Chof, including:
- Scan photos (camera scans and library uploads)
- Generated cutouts (derived crops used as bar images)
- Ratings and review text
- Lists/statuses (e.g., wishlist/favorites)
- Username/profile fields
- Flavor tags
- Notes fields
1. What Chof is for
Chof is for Content that helps identify and review chocolate bars, for example:
- Photos focused on chocolate bar packaging
- Product-related notes (ingredients, origin, flavor, texture)
- Ratings and reviews
- Organization via lists/statuses
2. Public-by-default visibility (important)
Chof is public-by-default. Content you submit is visible to other users, including:
- Scan photos
- Generated cutouts (used as the main product image for a bar)
- Ratings and review text
- Lists/statuses (wishlist/favorites)
- Username/profile
- Flavor tags
- Notes fields
Scan images and public links: Scan images are stored in cloud storage and, to operate the service, may be accessible via public links. This means anyone with the link can access the image. Do not upload anything you would not want to be publicly accessible.
3. What you can upload
- Camera scans of chocolate bar packaging
- Photos of chocolate bars from your photo library
- Review text
- Username/profile text
- Flavor tags
- Notes fields
4. What is not allowed
You may not upload, post, or share Content that is any of the following:
A) Not about chocolate bars
- Unrelated images or text
- Spam or repetitive low-quality submissions intended to flood the system
B) Personal data or privacy violations
- Phone numbers, home addresses, private email addresses, ID documents, payment info
- Faces or identifiable people without consent
- Photos containing identifying details not related to the product (license plates, mail labels, receipts with personal info)
C) Harassment, hate, or abuse
- Hate speech or hateful symbols
- Harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, intimidation
- Coordinated abuse
D) Sexual exploitation / minors
- Any sexual content involving minors (zero tolerance)
- Any content that exploits or endangers minors
E) Illegal activity or dangerous content
- Content facilitating wrongdoing or instructions for illegal activity
- Threats of violence or encouragement of self-harm
F) Malware, scams, and deceptive content
- Phishing, scams, impersonation, fraudulent promotions
- Links intended to distribute malware or steal credentials
- Manipulation attempts (fake ratings/reviews, coordinated review bombing)
G) IP infringement
- Content you don’t have the rights to use in a way that infringes others’ rights
5. Photo guidelines
Do
- Photograph the bar packaging clearly (front/back), readable and well-lit
- Keep the frame tight to the product
Don’t
- Include faces/people in frame
- Include documents, addresses, receipts, or anything not relevant to the bar
Note: Chof generates “cutouts” from scans to create clean product images. Raw scans may still be visible (Section 2). Follow these rules even if the cutout removes the background.
6. Text guidelines (reviews, usernames, tags, notes)
- Keep reviews product-focused (taste, aroma, texture, ingredients, origin)
- No personal attacks or defamatory claims
- Don’t include sensitive personal data
URLs / links
Allowed: URLs are allowed only in review text when they are relevant (for example, a manufacturer page).
Not allowed: URLs are not allowed in usernames, flavor tags, or notes fields.
We may remove Content containing links outside review text, or links that appear to be spam, phishing, or promotions.
7. Reporting content
To report Content that violates this policy, email support@chof.nl with:
- What happened
- The relevant bar name / user / timestamp (if you have it)
- Screenshots or links (if applicable)
8. Enforcement
If Content violates this policy, we may:
- Remove or modify Content
- Restrict or suspend accounts
- Take additional steps if required by law
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll update the “Last Updated” date and may provide notice in the app or via email for material changes.
