Welcome to Chof. By using our app, whether by creating an account or using our guest features, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Chof, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. This applies regardless of whether you are a registered user or a guest. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our app.

2. Description of Service

Chof is a chocolate bar scanning and cataloging application. Core features available to all users include:

  • Scanning chocolate bars using your device's camera
  • AI-powered identification of chocolate products
  • Viewing detailed chocolate product information

Registered users gain additional features such as personal ratings, reviews, and the ability to build and save a personal chocolate collection.

3. User Accounts

While you can use core scanning features as a guest, you must create an account to save your collection or post reviews. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Providing accurate and current information

4. Subscriptions and Payments (Chof Premium)

Chof offers an auto-renewing subscription service called “Chof Premium” to unlock advanced features. By subscribing, you agree to the following terms:

  • Billing: Payment will be charged to your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Auto-Renewal: The subscription automatically renews (e.g., Monthly or Yearly) unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Renewal Charges: Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, identifying the cost of the renewal.
  • Managing Subscriptions: You can manage your subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal by going to your Account Settings (in the App Store or Play Store) after purchase.
  • Free Trials: Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription to that service.
  • Refunds: All billing and refunds are handled by Apple or Google. We cannot directly issue refunds for purchases made through the App Store or Play Store. Please contact the respective store for any refund requests.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose
  • Submit false, misleading, or inappropriate content
  • Attempt to interfere with the app's functionality
  • Reverse engineer or copy any part of the app
  • Use automated systems to access the app

6. Content Guidelines

All content you submit (ratings, reviews, notes) must comply with our Content Policy. In summary, content must:

  • Be accurate and honest
  • Not contain offensive, abusive, or inappropriate material
  • Not infringe on any third-party rights
  • Not include spam or promotional content

7. AI-Generated Content

Chof uses artificial intelligence to identify chocolate products and provide information. Please note:

  • AI-generated information may not be 100% accurate
  • Product information should be verified when accuracy is critical
  • We continuously work to improve accuracy

8. Intellectual Property

Chof and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Chof and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Chocolate brand names, logos, and product information displayed in the app belong to their respective owners. Chof is an independent service and is not affiliated with any chocolate manufacturer.

9. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may also delete your account at any time through the app's Settings.

10. Disclaimers

Chof is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

  • Continuous, uninterrupted access to the service
  • Accuracy of AI-generated product information
  • That the app will meet all your requirements

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chof shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify users of significant changes.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict of law principles.
