How it works

Scan the wrapper

Point your camera at the front or back of a bar. Chof matches it in the catalog of 2,500+ bars and shows the maker, origin, cocoa percentage, ingredients, flavour notes and Chof Score.

Frequently asked

  • Which bars are in the catalog?

2,500+ bars from 430+ makers, from craft and bean-to-bar makers to supermarket staples, each with its maker, origin, cocoa percentage and ingredients. If a bar is missing, scan it: Chof checks it, usually within a day, and until then only you see it.

  • Does it work outside the Netherlands?

Yes. The catalog covers makers from many countries and the app works the same wherever you are. Home also shows bars from makers in your own country when the catalog has them.

  • Is the catalog on chof.nl the same as in the app?

It is the same catalog. A new bar reaches the app first and chof.nl once it is published. Scanning, rating and My Bars are only in the app.

  • How does Your taste work?

It reads your star ratings. After five rated bars it looks for the flavour family, origin or maker you rate highest, and from ten it shows how your stars are spread.
