Bean to Bite

A bean-to-bar shop on Østergade in central Copenhagen, opened in June 2024 by a founder who came to cacao through family-run farms in Colombia. Twenty-one makers on the shelves — Friis Holm and Oialla from Denmark alongside Naive, Beaningful, Karuna, Qantu, Luisa Abram, Svenska Kakao, Standout, Fjåk, Nearynógs, Auro and Chocolate Tree — sold as single bars rather than boxes, with the same range online in Danish and English. Under the name Copenhagen Chocolate Lab it also sources its own cacao lots and has makers it stocks turn them into limited releases: first a lot from the Takahashi farm in Tomé-Açu, Pará, then one from a women-led Indigenous community in the Peruvian Amazon.
