Wellington Chocolate Factory makes bean-to-bar chocolate at its factory in Te Aro, Wellington, and since mid-2025 all of its cocoa comes from Pacific Island growers.
Wellington Chocolate Factory makes its chocolate from the bean at its factory and shop at 5 Eva Street, Te Aro, Wellington. Every step happens there.
Beans are sorted by hand, roasted in small batches with a lighter roast than most industrial chocolate, then stone ground in melangers, usually for at least 72 hours, and tempered by hand.
Since mid-2025 all of its cocoa has come from islands in the Pacific. The Samoa 70% uses beans from Vailele Estate, and other single-origin bars come from Vanuatu and from Māpele Farms in Hawai'i.
WCF says it buys directly from its grower partners, pays them extra on top of the cocoa price and publishes the farmgate price it pays. It started a Grower Partner Initiative in 2021.
