Chocolate Makers Map

Frequently asked

What is a chocolate bar maker?

A chocolate bar maker is the company that turns cacao, or ready-made couverture, into a finished chocolate bar. Chof maps confirmed chocolate makers and chocolate bar makers by where each one is based.

Where can I find chocolate makers near me?

Filter the map by country to see every chocolate maker we have plotted there. Tick "visitable shops only" to narrow it to chocolate shops and workshops you can actually walk into.

What is the difference between a chocolate maker and a chocolate manufacturer?

Chof uses "chocolate maker" for anyone who produces finished bars, and tags each one as bean-to-bar, tree-to-bar, melter, industrial or private label. "Chocolate manufacturer" means much the same thing, though it usually implies larger industrial production.

Are there chocolade makers in Amsterdam?

Yes. Amsterdam has a small but growing scene of chocolademakers and Dutch chocolate brands. Filter the map by the Netherlands to find them.

Is bean-to-bar the same as a chocolate maker?

Not always. Bean-to-bar makers turn raw cacao beans into finished bars themselves. Melters start from finished chocolate bought from another company, industrial bars come from mass-market or contract factories, and private label is a retailer's own brand, whoever makes it. Filter by bean-to-bar to see only that group.

Why are some maker locations shown only at city level?

When a maker's workshop is not open to the public, Chof shows its city rather than the exact street address. Exact pins are reserved for chocolate shops and workshops you can visit.

Are all chocolate makers in the world on this map?

Not yet. You are seeing every chocolate maker Chof has confirmed so far, and we add more all the time. Missing one you love? Ask them to get in touch via the For Makers page, or email felipe@chof.nl.

Which country has the most chocolate makers on Chof?

United States currently has the most chocolate makers on the Chof map, with 82 makers plotted.
