Chocolate Glossary

What is single-origin chocolate?

Single-origin chocolate is made with cacao from one country, region, estate or farm instead of a broad anonymous blend.

Country-level single origin is the broadest form. Single-region, single-estate and single-farm bars give you a narrower clue about where the beans came from.

Origin can shape flavour, but it is not a quality guarantee. Fermentation, drying, roasting and ingredients still matter.
